Youth Offending Service Worker - PO2


Undertake holistic assessments of children, young people and their families which identify risk and protective factors and analyse the underlying causes of their offending, ensuring their views are reflected to inform decision making and how approaches are adapted to work with them.


Work creatively in developing and delivering interventions with the child and their parent or carer which focus on the criminogenic need and strengthen factors for desistance. This will involve using imaginative approaches and could include one-to-one or group work. The interventions should be regularly reviewed.


 

Engage and motivate children and young people in a meaningful and creative way in accordance with National Standards and statutory/voluntary requirements, which promotes compliance with their Order and allows for the development of a trusting, professional relationship.

 

To work in a multi-disciplinary team and to work effectively in partnership with staff based in relevant agencies, fostering strong relationships that promote positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.



To prepare Pre-Sentence Reports to the Courts, following assessment, giving proposals for intervention to reduce offending, regarding the welfare of the child.


To prepare reports for Referral Order Panels and attend the Panel to support volunteer panel members with information about suitable interventions.


To attend Court when required working as the Youth Offending Service representative, providing advice and support to young people, their families and the judiciary and to undertake bail assessments and produce bail support packages for Court.


To develop interventions with the parents of children and young people referred to the Service in order to provide them with support and develop their parenting skills; enable parents and carers to support their child to complete their pre-court disposal or statutory court order.


Undertake YOS office duty as part of a rota system.


Undertake home visits as required to support work with a child, young person, parent or carer.


To demonstrate a high level of skill in managing high risk complex cases.

12. To demonstrate an ability to problem solve complex situations and provide creative solutions in addressing barriers to engagement.

13. Utilise a systemic approach including trauma informed and restorative practice.

It's a new company owned by the Council. As such we need an enthusiastic and capable executive support officer to help support us in this start-up phase.

Main Purpose of the Job


An exciting career opportunity exists for a self-motivated and committed individual with strong organisational and effective communicative skills to join the arboricultural management team in parks.

You will be experienced in dealing with customers and will demonstrate the ability to solve a wide range of problems and identify solutions in what is a highly visible, diverse and sensitive area of management.

The possession of a Certificate in Arboriculture or professional tree inspection certificate is essential as is experience in inspecting trees, preparing survey reports and implementing recommendations. Key to the role will be the ability to apply sound risk management principles and tools ensuring the effective use of resources and prioritisation of work.

You will need to be familiar with and competent in the use of information technology and how it can be utilised to capture, store and retrieve data to support service delivery and aid decision making.

A full, valid driving licence and the use of a vehicle is also an essential requirement as is participation in emergency tree management procedures.
